Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center Observes 2026 National Pharmacy Week
FORT BELVOIR, Va. (October 22, 2026) --Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) proudly observes National Pharmacy Week, Oct. 18–24, honoring the skilled and credentialed pharmacy professionals who provide safe, reliable medication services to thousands of military beneficiaries.
As a vital hub within the National Capital Region military medical network, ATAMMC combines clinical expertise, teamwork and advanced technology to deliver exceptional pharmacy care and improve the beneficiary experience.
Located on the main campus of Fort Belvoir, Virginia, ATAMMC operates an expanded, high-volume hospital pharmacy system designed to support a large and diverse beneficiary population.
A Pharmacy Built for Mission Support
The main outpatient pharmacy, located in the Oaks Pavilion, processes approximately 1,600 prescriptions each day. Combined with its satellite locations, ATAMMC’s pharmacy system fills more than 1.2 million prescriptions annually.
Managing this volume requires precision, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to patient safety. Each prescription reflects the daily dedication of pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and support staff who work behind the scenes to ensure beneficiaries receive the medications and guidance they need.
Advancing the Beneficiary Experience
ATAMMC uses innovative tools and services to streamline prescription processing and reduce wait times. Through Q-Anywhere, beneficiaries can remotely activate new prescriptions by texting “Get in Line.” They may also manage eligible pharmacy services through the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.
Once a prescription is ready, beneficiaries can use the dedicated “Rapid Return for Pickup” line in the pharmacy lobby for a faster, more convenient experience.
ATAMMC further expands access through ScriptCenter, an automated, self-service dispensing kiosk and locker system located in the Meadows Pavilion. The secure, contactless service allows eligible beneficiaries to pick up prescriptions 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing added flexibility for those with demanding schedules, long-distance commutes or after-hours medication needs.
Extending Regional Access
ATAMMC also supports regional TRICARE beneficiaries through pharmacy services at the ATAMMC Fairfax and Dumfries Ambulatory Care Center Pharmacy Clinics, as well as the DiLorenzo Pentagon Health Clinic Pharmacy. The pharmacy lobby also features dedicated drug take-back "Blue Bins", giving beneficiaries a safe and convenient way to dispose of expired or unused medications.
National Pharmacy Week provides an opportunity to recognize the extraordinary work performed every day by ATAMMC’s pharmacy team and the medical center staff who support them. Through their expertise, compassion and commitment to innovation, they continue to strengthen medication safety and improve access to care across the National Capital Region.
ATAMMC takes great pride in the opportunity to serve its beneficiaries and remains honored to support the health, readiness and well-being of the military community.
